Excursion to Ile de Re

Lorient to lie d'yeu
... was not a popular man for an hour or so.... From Noirmutier we travelled south to Ile d'Yeu which is where I am writing this blog from. As its an island we have had the obligatory cycle ride round the island which was quite gentle as there are no hills. With the weather looking a bit more unsettled for the next couple of days the plan is to head on down the Vendee towards La Rochelle and the offshore islands. More when good old French Internet ...
Plane but Beautiful!
... France. Carefully pollarded, teased and trained they form cool canopies over bar terraces and provide shade in village squares and on camp sites. We stayed on some lovely sites including a free France Passion site. France Passion is a sort of club with sites based in vineyards and farms. After joining you can stay for free at as many as you want and sometimes there is a restaurant attached to the property. No other facilities though.

The Sun is Shining, the weather is sweet!!!
GOOD MORNING CAMPERS!!! The Sun is belting down and for a change there's hardly any wind on the island, today is a Beach day for sure.... We got up nice and early again, although not silly O clock for a run, just a natural wake up.. Had a good filling brekkie to prepare us for a long day on the beach and then got creamed up and off we went, new bat and ball in one hand and sun cream in the other, nothing else ...
Windy windy times!
... and fixed the bikes. Just before diner we played a couple games of ping pong ( Si won of course) and we got ready and headed out for a meal. We sampled some of the traditional cuisine ... Pizza!!!! Yum! It was good washed down with cocktails and a banana split for desert, no chips but still great. We headed back and relished the thought of a lie in and (finger crossed) 30 degree sun shine tomorrow. Whoop Night night ...
