A bohemian fairytale

What a beautiful place to visit! I had high hopes for Prague ever since Helen visited a few years ago and showed me her photos and told me her stories. I'm glad to say that it exceeded expectations. We arrived in yesterday afternoon and were immediately taken to Hradcany Castle and Cathedral and walked around for a bit. Unfortunately the rain followed us from Berlin but it was all good, we were inside for most of the exploration and got to see some beautiful stained glass windows in the cathe...

Prague

Praha was beautiful. We had tons of free time in Prague and it was great. I do have to say that on the first day I got separated from my tour and was left wandering around Prague on my own. I know, good job...chalk one up to me but it was actually a really good experience. It was a 3 hour tour and I got left at a cathedral 30 minutes in. I decided at that point that it would be best to continue on my own with my copied map into the city rather than return to the hotel on my own for 6 hours. I...

19th May - Prague - Contiki After a lovely buffet breakfast we left the Hotel at 8:30. Our first stop was Dresden where we had a 2 hour stop for lunch and look around the city. It was a lovely city although 80% of the buildings were bombed in WWII. We arrived at our very nice Hotel in Prague just after 4pm. After a relax we had an included dinner at the hotel. We then went on a night city walk at 7:30 to see Charles Bridge and the Old Town Square, includding the Astronomical Clock. After that...

Big Day out, in the park...

... that should be free, such as a view to the city. I got enough of these on the way up anyway, thanks to my lack of fitness. So I was stuck with the rose garden and the serenity. So much serenity. The free sights didn’t turn out too bad after all, and provided many interesting photo opportunities. On the hill is also the hunger wall, called this because it was a pretty unnecessary wall, the king at the time just needed a way to give people ...

Prague and the Czech Republic

... of skulls and long bones, some 8-10 feet high. This is my kind of church! (I know, I'm creepy and twisted...) After lingering in the Bone Church, we hit the road again for Prague. Upon arrival at Guest House Lida, we were enthusiastically greeted by Jan, who showed us to our room and suggested some sites for the evening. We stopped for dinner, then explored the Visehrad park. As evening started to fall, we headed back ...

Fading grace

... and such. Even the opening acts were pretty good (particularly the Hungarian band playing second), so that was a pleasant surprise. Shame about the embarrassing dork in the audience making a fool out of himself over being in front of his long-adored favorite band, but that's the way of concerts, I s'pose. The long streak of beautiful weather was bound to end eventually, and it did today. Actually, it finished last night mid-gig, as we walked out of the ...

... all sorts of Czech. I felt like a long lost cousin coming to stay. The old man handed me slippers so I took off my shoes, put on the huge slippers that felt like skis and followed the man upstairs. He took me to the attic where there were too large rooms, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. He showed me all around the attic and handed me keys. One was for the gate outside and one that looked like something out of medieval times was for opening the front door ...

We left prague to see the out of disney castle Karstejn. Its a beauty reminds u of the disney depiction of sleeping beauty castle. Historically this castle was built in such a way that it was easy to defend and difficult to capture especially the royal chambers. In its ...
