What a beautiful place to visit! I had high hopes for Prague ever since Helen visited a few years ago and showed me her photos and told me her stories. I'm glad to say that it exceeded expectations. We arrived in yesterday afternoon and were immediately taken to Hradcany Castle and Cathedral and walked around for a bit. Unfortunately the rain followed us from Berlin but it was all good, we were inside for most of the exploration and got to see some beautiful stained glass windows in the cathe...
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic francethedancePraha was beautiful. We had tons of free time in Prague and it was great. I do have to say that on the first day I got separated from my tour and was left wandering around Prague on my own. I know, good job...chalk one up to me but it was actually a really good experience. It was a 3 hour tour and I got left at a cathedral 30 minutes in. I decided at that point that it would be best to continue on my own with my copied map into the city rather than return to the hotel on my own for 6 hours. I...
Praha, Czech Republic jcarlso219th May - Prague - Contiki After a lovely buffet breakfast we left the Hotel at 8:30. Our first stop was Dresden where we had a 2 hour stop for lunch and look around the city. It was a lovely city although 80% of the buildings were bombed in WWII. We arrived at our very nice Hotel in Prague just after 4pm. After a relax we had an included dinner at the hotel. We then went on a night city walk at 7:30 to see Charles Bridge and the Old Town Square, includding the Astronomical Clock. After that...

Wow! So I am really bad at this! I am much better at keeping in touch with people on facebook than this blog :)

So the last two weeks have been eventful. No job yet but a couple of interviews lined up. I have been picky with work and have turned down a few jobs, I might come to regret that later…

I have started my Czech lessons and can now count ...
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic debs_rambles... less Americanized cities. Berlin was by far the easiest find your way around in and the most people spoke English and were the most receptive to us, then Krakow was slightly more difficult and in Prague it felt the most foreign. I loved feeling like I was soaking in a new scent of life from the culture around me. It was so different there; I could finally almost feel the distance I had traveled and the space between myself and my familiar home ...
Prague, Czech Republic kthleeny... Old Towne. Gorgeous! It was so strange to see all these Cinderella-like strutures all around, with El Mojito Bar lodged at the base. Everything's all mixed in! I love it! :) We stopped by a small hole-in-the-wall place called the Orange Bar to have a celebratory drink on the occasion of our arrival. Tomorrow we will explore what treasures this city holds! :) Pictures to come :) Dani and Colin
Prague, Czech Republic coolkids... two had zero beds, and I began to worry. The third had a bed, and they were 5 minutes walk from the train station I was at. (For you fellow travelers, there's more than one station in Prague, so be sure to learn which one you're arriving at. I was at Hlavni Nadrazni) But my instincts told me not to stay so close to the train station. Then I called the Boathouse Hostel, which the brochure described as "located far from the city center, but the hospitality is worth the distance." The ...
Prague, Czech Republic monkeyduck... figuring it might be one of my last chances to go shopping with a girl now that I am safely installed with Jess and Matt. After he got in, we started watching the futbol downstairs in the hostel bar, then went to the pizza place next door in day 1 of our attempt to avoid all local foods in Czech. It was a quiet night because he was jet lagged and I was recovering from Munich. The following day, we went on an insane walk. We literally saw all of Prague in about 10 hours as we walked ...
Prague, Czech Republic zoharl... is about $15 Australian dollars) and this would have to be the cheapest meal i've ever ate! You'd be paying near $40 for that back in Oz. Twas getting late so we wondered the streets a bit to see the city at night before heading home. The city was so pretty, and looked pretty sweet wondering across Charles bridge late at night with the city lights behind and infront of us. The city was build in the 1300's, so no wonder it has a gothic feel to it ...
