    ... The wild roses were rampant and I could smell them long before I saw them - I wonder why our wild roses at home don't smell like the French ones. At the top of the hill was a tiny hamlet with a pretty church, it all seemed perfect, and then I drove off and left it all behind!

    ... extra, room was cool, has a hot tub in the corner of the bedroom area, separate toilet, bathroom with a hole and Venetian blind where you would expect the wall to be, kitchen complete with microwave, 2 electric elements, kettle etc and a massive slatted deck.     After some games of pool, and a visit from an entrepreneurial chimney sweep (my French is not as bad as I'd thought), we headed out towards a) the supermarket and b) the nearest castle. Nick and I were doing the "amusing family driving double act", which involved me trying to navigate using two maps with mis-matched scales and Nick driving at speed past all the signposts and turnings.
