So decided to stay a second day in Nantes....hotel was in fab location, but loads of bars right outside the hotel, thank goodness for double glazed windows!
Went to the local saturday market this morning, geez, i love the french markets. took us about 20 mins walking around just to figure out what to eat.
Off to see the chateau this afternoon then maybe to a soccer game (Nantes vs. Nimes) this evening.

... I met in Sheffield during our HSBC training! Anyway, 2 north African guys were then met by the aforementioned large men and rapidly whisked away in front of our eyes before they could have said (in French) "Jack Robinson". I think it was perfectly legit. As long as my hairdresser car boot has remained unbroken, I'll be happy. I will know in the morning.
Football-wise, Villa are still unbeaten since I left. Blackburn tomorrow!! Jamie is tremendously excited!!
... closing for the season. Fortunately on our way to the campground we say a riverside park area that allowed ‘camping cars’ to spend the night - and it was packed! Deciding that if campervans could camp then so could we (not that we had any other choice). Camped out at a picnic table we awaited dusk to pitch the tent. I knew it would be hard to beat last night’s dream campsite!
In the meantime ...
... What a huge b****. Plus she made me late for my other class, and that bugged me too. I cannot stand her and I will now avoid her at all costs. My afternoon classes were alright. Nothing to get excited about. After school I had some dinner then went to Lauren's. I hdan't really been over there in a while plus I really needed to call my parents. It was nice to just hang out there and relax. 1/9/09 My kids were just awful today. Emma's class earned as star ...
Nantes, Pays de la Loire, France mamakarpus... I would be lost Julie immediately said I meant something else, and I was saying that wrong (I wasn't), and David was so touched that he pretended to cry for a good five minutes. Haha Then we had the dessert. There was pumpkin pie (made from a can. I liked it alright, but I like the from scratch version better) and jello. Apparently she's never had a Thanksgiving without jello. I've never had one with it, and she said that was very sad. We had that and then we talked some more. I ...
Bouguenais, Pays de la Loire, France mamakarpus... in today and I was pretty excited. This class makes up for every other bad class I have. It took a while to get them to figure out what I was saying (I tried not to speak French) but they eventually got it and I was so excited. You can't even imagine the feeling you get when something you taught actually sticks in the child's mind. It was so exciting. Let's see if they remember it on Thursday. The other CE2 class came in and so did Frédérique. She was going to observe ...
Nantes, France mamakarpus... level. Plus, I don't know why, but the younger kids are much better behaved than my older kids. Maybe it's because they don't understand a word of what I'm saying so they have to pay attention. I did the same intro as I did in the morning, and they all gave me blank stares. It was so funny I couldn't help laughing. Then I took roll. This class is SO adorable. I asked them what they knew and they knew numbers up to 10 and some colors. That's a pretty good start. There's also a boy in the ...
Nantes, France mamakarpus... after all the walking I have done or the toilets are bigger; But every time I set on one I fall in so it is a fine balancing act I have to do of sitting on the toilet and not falling in and not touching the porcelin as there is no seat; which is fine by me. I get some maps and brochures from downstairs and head out to dinner and to the internet cafe as my laptop on ebay is ending at 8.30pm. I am outbid by an american whose **** I am sure ...
Nantes, France penny.hopeI was so delighted to finally arrive at Paris-CDG Airport after having a lovely flight over. However, the feeling of relief soon ended when I got off the plane and recalled why I really detest transfers in CDG -- long walks, long lines, poor signage, lack of helpful staff, etc. The worst part is that the Terminal 2 layout is like a fleur-de ...
Roissy, Île-de-France, France billcurtisd... a refuel. The local park within a stones throw of the campsite had been turned into a full on music, drink and food venue. It was laid on by the tourist board and featured some French bands and a DJ. Things were starting to warm up when I popped in to watch the African drumming and dancing, classic car exhibition and browse the stalls. Coming across the food stall reminded me of why I came back. David had been on a bike ride and ...
