... who did The Thinker, The Kiss, and the Gates of Hell, among many other brilliant works. The museum is gorgeous because most of his more famous works are actually in the gardens, surround by trees, flowers, and water. It was a lovely, peaceful setting that let you forget that you were in the middle of Paris. I spent a long time there, especially on a bench right in front of the Thinker. I thought a lot and cleared my head a bit ...
Paris, France laurenobst... lady asked for directions and I was able to give them in French and she was grateful and continued on her way (I must say, my French is pretty rudimentary, so I was pretty excited to know both where she wanted to go and to be able to tell her in French). We've had a very laid back week here this week, just visiting markets, shopping and reading. On Monday morning, we plan to head on an overnight trip out to Mont St Michel and the D-day beaches. A bientot.
Paris, France fifoota... and had breakfast by going to our bakery that was found by research (likely Rick Steves). The Bastille area seems to be less touristy, so we were able to get the good stuff, not the over-priced tourist pastries. We had a nice coffee in the morning while we waited to meet Linda (Brother in law's cousin). Of course, since there is a strike going on, transport right now is extremely unreliable and thus we cannot go to Versailles. She actually had to walk to come see us because of the ...
Paris, France bsuarez... to hotel and picked up our stuff and went to drop them off at Gare De L'est train station for our departure that night. unfortunately they do not have lockers. you put them thru a screening and they take them for you so i was not able to empty my backpack of some unnecessary items and also had to carry my hard rock bag that has 2 mugs now, and a towel we bought in switzerland for canyoning. the metro line for the arc de ...
Paris, France moneyb03Today, I'm skipping the blog. Had a nice day. Woke up early, spent abut an hour and a half just having coffee and croisant. I went to the Islamic World museum which had some beautiful swords and daggers...all war stuff (what's up with that?!). The view from the roof deck was particularly beautiful....you'll get to see that tomorrow when I add the photos. I headed back to wait for Paul, whose flight was ...
Paris, France sinfronteras... and 12 major avenues converging on the round-about around the Arc. From here we could also easily see the business district, La Defense, with its skyscrapers and La Grande Arche building. This building is like a square block missing its center. It stands about 110 meters tall, an amazing sight. Today was a full day, so we headed down and back to the hotel to rest up and wash up before going out for dinner. Of course, topped off the night with a toast to the wonderful day.
Paris, France kcossin... we hung out with an Australian chick named Tash, just telling stories and stuff. Me and Jim got pretty drunk. At the end of the night these guys came in from Australia. One of them was dancing around by himself doing the robot and getting cheered on. There were a bunch of Saudi guys laughing and cheering. Of course the night ends with everyone taking pictures of everyone else, just laughing and having fun. Great night.
Paris, France smileycj1... comming out of a train station bummed because you though youd be able to walk out and see the iffle tower and seeing scrubby buildings than walking around the corner and having the iffel tower jump out at youfrom blossoming trees! It actually made me jump... the history is absolutely amazing! My favorite was walking through Noter Dame It was absolutely beautiful.. the choir was singing and their voices filled the whole cathedral ...
Paris, France rora_8... special on the price of the train ticket plus the pass to Versaille. They called it Passport Versaille and it cost us a little over 21 EU which was cheap. It gave us priority access to the exhibits and didn't have to wait around in those huge queues for "groups". The palace was huge along with the gardens. You could easily spend the whole day there and it would be easy to pack a picnic to eat at the garden area. I took plenty of pictures and walked a lot. I was still ...
Versaille, France tazan007... rugby, each half has 40min, so the 43rd was already the 3rd of injury time). 44min, 45, 46 (is he never gonna end it?!?), 47, 48... TRY!!! Dominici, also a French national, scored the winning converted try at 48min46s, bringing the score to 20x17, the first time Stade was leading the whole match! Referee ended the game less than a minute later and Stade was qualified for the final. Of course, during my celebration, I had to show my Brazilian flag to the B.O./Argentinian ...
