First day in Casablanca was all about Internet access and CNN. Unfortunately, with the international version of CNN we learned way more about the Davos Economic Forum than we ever wanted to know. That Richard Quest guy with the teeth - wow, he's a piece of work! So after we left the hotel we headed into the old Medina. And we found a CHICKEN! I am on a mission to locate and photograph a chicken in every country we visit - we've decided it's the only meat that all countries/religions of t...
Casablanca, Morocco rebsharkWe wandered around Casablanca and saw the less inspiring sights. We stopped at Place Mohammed V which was full of pigeons and hawkers. We walked down the beautiful palm lined Boulevard Rachidi to see the dilapidated Cathedral du Sacre Coeur. But NO nuns to be found! We ended up eating a very long lunch in a sidewalk cafe - where I got a honey bee in my Coca Light. We walked through Parc de la Ligue Arabe where I was accosted by a gypsy girl who kissed my sleeve - yuck! So to make up for...

Casablanca, Morocco bellag... excellent English and was extremely friendly. Soon we were all chatting away, with him translating for some of the other people in the cabin. It's so nice to just talk to regular people, and not the ones who are trying to squeeze some dirhams out of the tourists.

Upon arrival in Casablanca I decided that the horror stories I had heard about it were greatly exaggerated. It looked exactly like what I would expect a big African city to look like. Sure, it was a bit dirty, but ...
Casablanca, Morocco abulia... the campsite and looking ill the cheese burger crew made their way off Chuck the truck (still searching for a name) whilst some continued into Rabat and Martin to the football stadium. We just lounged around the campground. News that our Mauritania VISA's would not be ready till 15:00 on Thursday filtered through so armed with the knowledge of another day on site and another sleep in the beers were cracked, wines ...
Casablanca, Morocco oliveramber... so we figure it evened out. We made it back to the hotel, gathered our things and hit the train station for a one hour trip to our next destination: Casablanca. Casablanca is Morocco's largest city by far, containing over three million people compared to the second biggest city, Marrakech, which has around 850,000. Casablanca is considered Morocco's commercial capital, and a major fishing port which became very apparent upon our arrival ...
Casablanca, Morocco dangabesisaak... on the head and bites his arms as well as me and the other nurses. He is not able to chew and requires a special breakfast that I learned how to prepare today and feed to him. Yesterday was a public holiday here in Morocco so we had the day off work. Yay! Eleanor, Sevie, Anna, Ozlem and I went to Casablanca for the day. I was so proud at how well we did navigating ourselves around. We took a taxi to the train station, bought our tickets, spent an hour on the ...
