... which was a bonus because it gave me a bit of a break... Melilla is a great quiet city...it's a nice change of pace because I could cross the road without fear of death and it's a very relaxed place... We went to some free museums and met some locals... to be continued...
Melilla, Spain papayaprincess... another step in my life. The path of the adventure is undefined and from where and when the return ticket will be purchased is still unknown!? The goal... to find the true meaning of life!!! Ha ha... justa jokin... the trip is partially photography oriented, partially career oriented, partially un-oriented! The pursuit of as many smiles possible :) It all started with working at the Winter 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy. I worked with an awesome ...
Chefchouen, Morocco wanderfoot... sink and crumbs on our beds and nut shells under the beds. We got to have our first experience in a public shower house that a lot of Moroccans use. I was the only girl in sight so I got a towel put over my door so no men could look through. We bought our really expensive ferry tickets to Spainīs mainland here (over 60 Euro each one way) and just wandered. The whole city is built on a huge lagoon and the locals wander down by it in the evening.
Nador, Morocco hildreth75... The lagoon attracts various sea birds including greater flamingos. The drive to Karait is wonderful to say the very least. The road is nestled in the Rif Mountains and surrounded by ruel life. It is not uncommon to see a herd's man herding his sheep or a donkey plowing the fields. Further along the road is a wonderful beach town called Ras el-Mar. I've been told that its know for its beaches and I was ...
Oujida, Morocco myjob... seems to be the hard working kind without loosing their sense of humor. That's perfect. Joe and Marcel, the other aircrew, will fly in the afternoon. We'll do the morning flight. I have to train my copilot to precision flying at low level in the mountains. Definitely something one is born used to... Discovering Nador, I'm amazed. I was expecting more or less the same atmosphere than in Casablanca. Nothing like that here. It's a small town away from touristy roads. People are ...
Nador, Morocco siegfried_h.... of the population, who just came out in 2005 of extremely active and bloody terrorism, is still to be healed. I expect that tourism will be the first asset of this country in helping to bring developement to the populations. In any case, Algerians are always willing to discuss all matters and to keep themseves informed of the latest news... this said, I have to admit that it's not uncommon to come accross very hard-headed people!
Oran-Tlemcen, Algeria peacefrog... type). "Well", he said, "just put it down in your bag between all your clothes so that man over there can't see it", motioning to the guy with the bag x-ray machine. Great! But hardly reassuring re: the security situation! So I did as he said and got through ok although I was a bit nervous as the first guy had conveniently disappeared by the time it was my turn for the security check. Walking across the border (still love getting to do that!) from ...
Nador, Morocco beck... the town is about 50% of each). For the price of a coffee and a hot milk we had seats near the music, but didn't get much of a view through the standing crowds. As the night went on people got more and more excited by the music. Young men were thrown up in the air and caught by their friends. Others sat or stood on their friends' shoulders. It was all good fun, no drunkenness as in the west, so we never felt ...
Chefchaouen, Morocco raymondc... asked the owner to show us some. It is actually a kind of brown bean. Yoong asks for hers without oil or spices. We did a bit of shopping at the market, then went back to the hotel and slept for a couple of hours. Maybe it's something to do with the soup. On the way to the medina I tripped over a step and fell. I didn't hurt myself but it's a bit worrying - I must be getting old. Two days ago I ...
Chefchaouen, Morocco raymondc... the back of the seat. Many passengers think the number in front of them is the seat number, which results in a lot of disputes. We had to ask a young lady to move out of one of our seats, but that was more because the number 43 on her ticket looked like a 45. (She was quite cute too!) I left Yoong at a coffee-shop while I looked for a hotel, the best way to avoid touts, who buzz round like flies when they see tourists with baggage. I saw some reasonable places in the ...
