Ibis Moussafir Casablanca

I stayed there with my wife for one night, travelling further to Marrakech by train next morning. We arrived around midnight. Receptionist was nice and polite although I didn't understand why he was surprised to see guests at midnight. Room was Ibis size (rather small but expected). Bathroom had dirty feeling with only one towel and opened (used?) soap. I went to the reception and asked for another towel and soap and was given with no problem. Breakfast is not included in the room (around 5 EUR per person additionally) and I guess it is worthy. Hotel is definitely worth to stay if you travel by train otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. Another tip - if you are travelling by train go and by tickets early, I went around 7 AM and there was almost nobody there (some of the staff even speak English). Later at 9 AM there was quite a queue at the ticket desk.

I stayed here two times, for one night each, while traveling in and out of Casablanca. I was satisfied each time and found the Ibis comparable to a moderate Days Inn or similar in the U.S. In other words, at roughly $50 a night it may be luxurious to the average Moroccan, but it is not by Western standards. Still, my rooms each had adequate lighting, a phone, a TV, and a clean bathroom with plenty of hot water. My understanding is that the breakfast buffet is included in the price and not optional. During my second stay, in mid-April, the room was rather warm; I was told that air conditioning is turned on only in June, July and August. I would think that would be a problem in May or September, especially since leaving a window open for the breeze is not a great option because of the noise from the adjacent train station. It is important to book ahead. I almost did not get a room during my first visit because I was advised by my riad owner in Fes that it was probably not necessary. (When I arrived the Ibis staff told me no room was available but ultimately canceled another reservation because it was evening already.) The only other hotel by the Casa-Voyageurs train station is atrocious (Hotel Terminus), and you don't want to be stuck there, even if it is only $10 a night. The Ibis could not be more convenient to the train station; and while it is not centrally located, cabs are cheap and plentiful right outside the door, if you want to go downtown. (I tried walking and got hopelessly lost, so a cab is definitely smarter.)

Despite booking well in advance directly with Ibis, when my family arrived on the 10pm train from the airport, we were told there was 'a problem' and that the three rooms were not available. We were put in a taxi to 'another hotel, only 5 minutes'. 15 minutes later, in the dark in a strange city, we arrived at the other hotel - a scary quarter of an hour.

I'm pleased to say that the other hotel was good enough, and that the taxi driver duly arrived to collect us again in the morning - and that we were not out of pocket.

Such 'problems' no doubt occur in all industries, and the staff of the Ibis solved this one without too much trouble.

good value rooms and service for the price, but only if you are armed with a set of earplugs. The downside of the close location to the train station (my balcony was almost on the platform!) is the constant train noise and car horn honking - it goes on all night!

I stayed at the Ibis in Casablanca on two non-consecutive locations during my trip to Morocco. It's location is good for travellers as it is right next to the main train station of Casablanca - Voyaguers. The hotel is a bit away from the city centre, although I don't feel like there is much to see in Casablanca anyway. The Hotel room itself was of normal size, carpeted, and had a good bathroom. Ibis Moussafir is like the Holiday Inn of Morocco, so it is a little more expensive, but the rooms are comfortable, clean, and even have English TV channels. The breakfast is a bit pricey, but it is large, but you don't have to take it if you don't want to.

I stayed at the Ibis for 1 night in December 2005. Great location to catch the train. It was overpriced for the amenities. Very average. December breakfast buffet. The rooms did reek of cigarette smoke (not surprised since the majority of males in Maroc smoke). I would not stay here again.

If you are travelling Morocco by train and are staying in mid-range hotels, the Moussafir chain is a great option. We stayed in Moussafir in 3 different cities back in 2000. At that time, they all provided good accommodation with ensuite bathroom, hot water, hairdrier, TV, CH and comfortable beds. Service was also good. We have never been to any of their restaurants. By taking a look at other reviews we can see that conditions haven't changed much since then. Prices are expensive for local standards but good value if you are travelling with Euros or US dollars. Guests comprise a mixture of local businessmen and foreign travellers. It compares favourably to other accommodation.

this hotel is value for money. it is clean and the rooms are well priced. don´t expect the best service and the cleanest place but for what you are paying it is correct. located right beside the train station so if you want to leave casablanca...like i did because the city is really not worth it....for better parts of the country you can. and to get into the center of the city it is only a 6-8 min taxi.

i stayed there based on reviews from this site and i would say that everyone´s reviews are pretty spot on.

We visited four Moroccan cities and in Casablanca we stayed for 3 nights at Ibis, on the 22nd, 25th and 26th of May. We used Casablanca as our base and as we were travelling by train the Ibis was very very convenient, just one minute walk from the station. We had no noise problems, the price for the double room was affordable and the rooms were clean. If we go back to Casablanca we will stay there again. We stayed at the Ibis Hotel at Fez too and we had a similar good experience. Also very close to the train station.

We only stayed here for one night at the tail end of our trip in Morocco so that we could easily get to the airport for our flight home. We didn't expect much (we're budget travellers and usually stay for under $20 in hotels with much more character) but our expectations were still not met. The room (although non-smoking) reeked of smoke, and the staff at the front dest was exceedingly rude (even though we didn't approach them with any problems- they were just rude during check-in and check-out). We had been ill from eating something bad earlier in the trip, so were playing it safe before the flight home and wanted to get familiar foods in the hotel restaurant, but the service was TERRIBLE. The worst I've ever experienced. Everything we ordered for the lunch and dinner that we ate there had something wrong with it- we received spaghetti instead of lasagna, fries instead of rice, two creme caramels instead of one (and even though we sent one back we were charged for both) and every time we ordered a drink we had to remind the waiter a few times before we actually got it. Anyway, I wouldn't stay here again- for the price you can get a much nicer experience in Casa.
