Okay, okay Cologne.......we get it.....you have a really big cathedral!!! It's impossible not to notice the huge tower that looms over you anywhere you are in Köln. This cathedral is the largest in Germany and one of the largest on the continent of Europe. It just so happens it smacks you in the face as you exit the central train station. Both Shannon and I exclaimed, " Oh my god!!" as we left the train station for our hotel. I couldn't even see the top of it. You definitely can't get a sunta...

... We've been getting along really well but I can't help but laugh at her for being a bit motherly towards me. The kids and I have also been getting along although I'm not exactly looking forward to sitting in the car for them for 5 hours this weekend :-/ We're going to take them to Lego land in south Germany. I'm trying to pretend to be as excited as they are, but it's not Disney we're talking about here and it's cold, not ...

My trip to Westport was one of those journeys that will stick in my mind forever. It was one of those moments (like my trip to Aegina and my adventures at the Holiday Ales Fest, for those who understand) that made me feel amazingly alive. I have so much more to say, but this blog entry is already dangerously long. I hope to ...
... time it was the tallest building in the world.
It was awesome inside with the high vaulted ceiling and beautiful stained glass windows. It has a golden alter which contains their relics, supposedly some of the bones of the Three Wise Men.
This afternoon was the time to pack as we arrive in Amsterdam tonight. We’re in the first group to leave tomorrow for the airport and have to be ready by 5:45 a.m.
Koln
After our Rhine cruise we drove in the coach to Koln (Cologne). Cologne is well-known for a few things, including perfume (4711 in particular), its Roman origins (as a colony – hence the name) and for its twin spired Gothic cathedral. We stopped for a little over an hour in the main square.
The cathedral houses the bones of the three Magi ...
... Tristan and me. I was contemplating striking up a conversation with the Americans, until they both looked at me and proceeded to have a conversation about whether or not I was wearing a bra. This probably happened because a.) The Amis thought I was German and didn’t speak English (well, guess what guys-I’m pretty good with English!!!) and b.) because of the booze in their systems. The situation was ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany w.zahn... all happily taking photos until a guard informed us in no uncertain terms that it was a militarised zone and no photos were allowed! I was glad I wasn't using my flash. We stopped close to the border for lunch and a look at the Rhine Falls. I took the opportunity to stretch my legs and rushed up for a better view only to find that the pretty trees were too tall for me to get a good photo. Ah well, win some, lose some. Finally we arrived in Lucerne. More soon...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany meganwadey... on, I decided that I wanted to go somewhere else and explore new places. I heard that there was a big band playing at the Cologne Philharmonic. So I got another cab, and took it there. That place was amazing! I've never heard of the band that was playing, nor do i remember the name of the band for that matter. All I know is that there was music in the air, and I wanted to have a good time. When the show started ...

When we got up to the Bronchoscopy floor, we found a doctor who spoke English, and we were finally able to check in. Their idea of "checking in" is vastly different than it is back home. They took my referral slip, entered our address information into the computer, and asked for our telephone number. That was it. I had to sign a consent form ...
