    ... wracking because the lighting was dim and as we passed a slit window we were in our own shadow. Tonight I had my special dinner. This included smoked eel which was quite nice, grouse which wasn't and a yummy desert involving quinces which I was told were from the garden.     ... Very old, very narrow, and very stone. Then to Avignon to stay right in the centre of this walled-city. Hotel de L'Horloge overlooking the main square - had to park 700 metres away and 'drag' though.
