... were many large parks reasonably well maintained and definitely well watered. Just made the city more spread out though. Tajikistan demanded a LOI contrary to their embassy internet site so we did not get the visa we wanted. Very bureaucratic man and no chance to argue our point. ... good enough in itself. The irony was that the visa cubicle was dark and empty of any person less an official one. I pushed myself forward to so e police type man and he said '5minutes' which in Uzbec time ended up being more like 40. By the time we got our visa ($100 a pop!!!) no one was left in the passport place. Not even the passport police.
