      ... pretty small town that bustles in the summer as people flock to the beaches here.

      As we were wandering the streets and trying to get ourselves oriented to the town we stopped into the Igrejada Mesericordia – the church of mercy- one of the few buildings that remained standing after the huge earthquake in the 1700’s.       ... le de Culatra est un grand banc de sable de 5.9 kms de long. After three days in our anchorage, we have decided to move further and put Kivu on the sand. We are now on the sand most of the time and in our own little bay. We are the only people here it is lovely. We even have our own time as changing the clock last Sunday was not working out for us so we live on "Kivu time" which is brilliant!       ... the locals doing their shopping. We joined in and brought some fruit, almonds, cheese, bread & of course some Portuguese tarts for a picnic later. At 11am we met back up with our group to take the ferry out to Culatra beach for an afternoon at the beach. The island of Culatra is part of a natural national park, so no more houses are allowed to be built there.       We got packed up early this morning and ready to meet Terry (from our intrepid group) to go out to Belem together for the morning. We took a taxi out and arrived there just before 10am, perfect timing as it turned out the sights opened at 10 so we beat a lot of the crowds.
