Day 2 - Saturday 6th September, 2014

We were up bright early for the 8.45am ferry crossing to Calais. Gilly, as usual did his usual 'slow motion' impression of loading up his bike, putting his helmet on and actually getting on the bike. Les and myself were already prepared and ready to get off. So we told Gilly that we were going up the road a couple of yards as we were on a slope and wanted to be on the flat.

... I went...no idea now except that I felt I should find a German Memorial....I looked on a map and sure enough...found one. Off I went....then I bumped into Tyne Cot memorial...holy ****.....it is a huge cemetery ....huggggggeeeeeee....wandered around it....this one had tourist buses with lots of gaggle groups and kids running around...not very respectful folks I have to say...that was a very big reality check......thousands of markers...each one a ...

... gates across the entrance, so 3rd time no water! We then decided not to go to Lens as there was no water being shown on our chart as available up there (not that we have been able to get it where it does show it on our chart either) but to carry on to Courcelles les Lens where there is a harbour off the main canal with water and electric.

Isi has to thank Tom Burns for teaching her how to "ferry glide" as it came in very useful ...
