I got off the bus and Fabio helped me with my luggage. We looked up the street and Sara S. was standing there. What a great sight, get off the bus and know someone immediately. Fabio went up to her, talked and pointed at me. She came toward me and gave me a hug.
Carol soon arrived and we went to eat. Great food and my first Caipirinha!!! I loved the rice and beans with every meal. The food and drinks were great.
We went across the street and had real ice CREAM!!! Tasted great.

... home to Jau. Wow! No interviews this week!
Then after talking with Miquela on msn, I began to wonder why I couldn't do them myself. No one else is around, so why not? Later that afternoon I practiced with Carol and felt better prepared for Tuesday. Tuesday rolls around and 2 of 4 of my patients arrived. I did them both! One went really well, but the other I think did not understand the questions very clearly, and I was not ...

Today after church I went on the internet and saw where the US was supposed to play Brasil in the Federation's Cup in soccer. Now, I don’t watch soccer, but this was the US’s first time there and they were not favored to win (of course). So, I decided to watch the game. I didn’t really know who to root for because these past few weeks I ...

I received an e-mail from Mabrisa, my Bahian friend who says I can stay with her sister or parents there…which will really reduce the amount of money I need to spend!

... and a cute top. They was a groupd doing what looked like Capoeira dance and after they went off stage, a group came to teach Samba Rock. I loved it! In my entire time here in Brazil I hadn't been around so many people of African descent, so it was a nice change. I can’t wait to go to Salvador! That is if I can afford it…the plane tickets are reasonable, but traveling alone is no good for decent hotel rooms.
Campinas, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil redwoodmLast week Thursday and Friday was Corpus Christi...a holiday I was not expecting! In small cities there is usually a procesional and decorations, but in Campinas, it is just a day off.
I stayed in the house all day on Thursday, which was exteremly boring. I decided that I would find my way to the mall if no one could take me! So, on Friday, I woke up and ate breakfast ...

After the sermon, I chatted with Rick and Arunya, who took my phone number, promising that weŽd get together sometime. What a wonderful day! IŽm glad I found a church to attend and had the chance to meet some pretty ŽlegalŽ folks!
