... family run hotel, where we'd had a coffee on our first day. Our intention was to have a few drinks, and a rustic meal, before catching the last train back (bear in mind the last train leaves Le Buet at 8.40!).

The signpost on the nearby path indicated it was a 45 minute walk to the next station, and we had left ourselves just less than 40 minutes, if we were to get the train.....and the path was mostly covered in snow, and mostly VERY uphill. Anyway, ...

... inside wasn't too special and there was no place to look out over the city. If you ever go, I recommend skipping the basilica, and the hike up there!

Definitely a beautiful day trip but there isn't a whole lot to do when the carnival isn't in full swing. I would love to go back in the warmer months to see the caves around the back of the mountains, they sound absolutely wonderful!

Not only was the Chateau closed for security reasons, but the large museum was closed for renovations, and the famous elephant statue was being renovated as well and the elephants didn't exist. At least they made a joke of the fact they were without the 4 w/o butts by making signs with large elephant butts.

... snow fall for the first time in our lives. It was absolutely amazing and being able to play in it made me feel completely nostalgic for childhood, but in a good way. My friend invited us over for a dinner party with his family and family friends, which was great! I was finally able to practice my French!
