Adieu Paris
Am finally starting to master business dinners with no utensils and keeping my clothes clean. Not so easy with the chicken floating in the palm oil with no napkins but the grease helped ease the itch of the mosquito bites on my ankles.
Ate at Alpha Blondys restaurant--Syl is jealous that i met him.
Was amused by the fact that the …
Into Africa
Today was a fairly smooth travel day. I worked in the room until 11:00 when I took a taxi to the airport. The flight to Abidjan left a bit late due to heavy fog at the airport, which slowed the take-off frequency.
We soon rose through the low clouds, however, into brilliant sunlight. I started reading a new Dorothy Dunnet series: the …
First day in CI
Today was a prep day: preparing for our trip up to Man starting tomorrow. I met with Paul Tia in the early afternoon at the hotel and we agreed on the final details of an itinerary and the plan for my stay in Côte d'Ivoire. And I made some purchases of items we’ll need during the expedition.

Sabbath in and around Abidjan

We put diesel in the car (this is done on a day-by-day basis with taxis because whatever is left in the tank at the end of the day is lost) and started out toward La Mé. We stopped along the way to pick up Paul's …

TravelPod Member ReviewsIbis Abidjan Plateau
This hotel has almost completed updating it's rooms, and they're fresh and clean. Service is good, the food is fine, although the menu is limited as is often the case at Ibis hotels. Located on Plateau, the center of the city, can walk to lots of businesses and shops.
A typical Ibis, nothing extraordinary but safe, reasonable value for money.
