    We arrived in Strasbourg at 0730 and boarded a canal boat for a cruise of this old city (the only French town we visit). A spectacular cathedral sits in the centre of the old town which is actually an island. It is considered one of the best examples of Gothic architecture and was certainly impressive.     ... got into the routine of making sure we had both on board. Far too used to living in central London where neither of these essentials and far away at any time of day or night. But not in Erstein they're not.

    We saw a bar close to the camp site and went in with hope but the unfriendly barman told us to go over the road to the hotel. When we got there, it was empty and expensive so I said we should head further into town. Another of my bright ideas.

    ... before, the man ran heavily past the docent and me and hurtled down the stairs. I have no idea how he got back to the ship, as he was nowhere to be seen on the return coach voyage.
