Geneva is clean, ordered, pretty and oh so expensive. We walked the old quarter, along the banks of Lake Geneva. We walked through the botanical gardens and saw the flower clock which is supposed to keep fantastic time, as you would expect of Swiss precision.

We went on a touristy boat cruise and we were lucky with fantastic weather. …

    ... Ibis.

We ended up getting to the hotel at about 8 PM, so didn't have time to go back into town for dinner and to see the city. It was a bit of a bugger considering we won't have time tomorrow as we are at CERN all day. Instead, we went next door to a nice Italian place. ... the nerves, but as it turned out, pretty effective - we got there in the end. Lost or not: the route was spectacular. Beautiful (thin) winding mountain roads with Jo gasping for air as she looked out over the drop just centimetres from her car window. Water falls, rustic tunnels hacked out of the rock, the occasional lycra clad cyclist slogging their way up. As we got towards the top and the country opened up a bit to alpine meadows, ...

After a 9.5 hour flight to Frankfurt, a long bus ride at the airport to the next plane, and a short 50 minute flight, we are in Geneva. Figured out how to take a bus to the hotel, overpaid, arrived and finally got our room. Slight problem with our reservation - they had us down for 2 people only. Kids will have to sleep outside in the rain ;-) --- Went downtown and joined a festival... Walked around, ate drank, got wet, and enjoyed the fireworks... Everyone is beat... Off to ...
