Hotel Ibis in my travel experience in Europe is that they are reliable, predictable and clean. the rooms are small but clean. For a quick stay during travel is worth it. they have breakfast in the morning which saves a lot of time

We farewelled Italy today and enter Switzerland. Which is good because I kept saying 'Danke' (thank you) to people in Italy, instead of 'grazie'. In two days time it will be 'merci'. On arrival to Lucerne we went up to the Lion monument which commemorates the massacre of the Swiss Guards in 1792 during the French Revolution. It was a very impressive sculpture. We were then off for a cruise ...

... Swiss musicians. There was also a famous blind Japanese pianist in the audience (being followed all night by a camera crew) who was brought up on stage at one point and played some music, which appeared to be similar to what had been played earlier in the night. We presumed he was playing by ear, but enhancing the piece with more layers of notes. Our dessert was strawberry and vanilla ice cream moulded into a Swiss flag, accompanied by whipped cream, meringue and applesauce. ...

Hello... Up at 5.45am to be on the road at 7.15am. We want to catch the 9am boat. (I'm right up with this, aren't I? ) Very misty this morning. Hopefully it will burn off. The sunrise is magnificent from the bus. Had a long sleep last night. I needed it. Was so tired yesterday. No Emily...the Black Forest cake was definitely a disappointment. Learnt my lesson there. Almost as disappointing as the green ice cream drumstick I ...

... straight through the markets, where I did spy a few stalls with all sorts of meats and sausages! Jason had a chat with his new mate and ordered the first Guinness of the day, along with some bacon and cream cheese bagels to get us going. After finally sorting out the internet stream for the game that the guy used to show sport (15 minutes later and us actually missing the Haka because of it), our old and technologically-incompetent friend went off to start making us ...

This morning we woke up and outside the window there was a huge medieval castle with a large football field in front of it. Calum and I played football and took some pictures. Then we set off for a three hour journey again. On the drive, Calum and I played on the ipad for a while. I kept on asking, "How much longer until we get to Dad's hotel in Lake Maggiore?" We finally arrived (early) at Dad's workplace and Calum and I played with Lego for a while, waiting for him. Then ...
