Hotel Ibis in my travel experience in Europe is that they are reliable, predictable and clean. the rooms are small but clean. For a quick stay during travel is worth it. they have breakfast in the morning which saves a lot of time

... Then we set out on the Swiss Idyll tour. We traveled by train and bus (train tracks were being repaired) following the shoreline of Lake Lucerne, passing Pilatus Mountain and Lake Sarnen, to the little village of Giswil. This is a small town located on what was once a like. It the 1920s the water was drain and the result is lush farmland. We met local farmers will took us on a horse-and-wagon ride on back ...

We farewelled Italy today and enter Switzerland. Which is good because I kept saying 'Danke' (thank you) to people in Italy, instead of 'grazie'. In two days time it will be 'merci'. On arrival to Lucerne we went up to the Lion monument which commemorates the massacre of the Swiss Guards in 1792 during the French Revolution. It was a very impressive sculpture. We were then off for a cruise ...

... train station. This hotel is a couple of star levels below the last one, but it was close to the train and the city which was our primary criteria. After dropping off our bags we headed out again to get some dinner. Just down the road we spotted an O'Reilly's Irish pub and didn't get any further. We ordered a pilsner beer and before we knew it were talking to the Aussies at the next table who also had just arrived in Frankfurt earlier today. ...

... Geneva at about 2pm after driving up the three hours or so from Avignon. We got to our accomodation and because we had only booked one night in Geneva we got straight on to a bus into the centre of Geneva which only took about 15 minutes from the hotel (we obviously generally stay a fairly good distance from the centre of these big expensive cities due to cost restrictions and were actually staying in Annemasse which is technically part of France! We crossed the border on the bus ...

This morning we woke up and outside the window there was a huge medieval castle with a large football field in front of it. Calum and I played football and took some pictures. Then we set off for a three hour journey again. On the drive, Calum and I played on the ipad for a while. I kept on asking, "How much longer until we get to Dad's hotel in Lake Maggiore?" We finally arrived (early) at Dad's workplace and Calum and I played with Lego for a while, waiting for him. Then ...
