... Chateau de Chenonceau. This one was Mummy's favourite. It looked like the Disneyland castle! After walking through a beautiful grove, Ben noticed 2 statutes that looked Egyptian. As well as having a castle that was beautiful (home to 5 French Queens), it had excellent gardens with beautiful fountains. Ben and Jon had fun running through the gardens. After all this, it was finally time to drive to our hotel in Tours for a well earned ...

... menu at a restaurant in the main square. Back to the tent for rest and recuperation. Very hot and we are being irritated by thunderbugs or thrips. We were under no illusions when we started that things might not always go our way. The campsite is a bit of a letdown and the bugs are bugging us. We are going to move on early tomorrow to the north coast. Bread, cheese and saucisson for ...

We walked around the main building but didn't go inside. I don't think we would have appreciated it fully as the tour guides only spoke rapid French. The building is very beautiful and has a huge number of turrets. When you look at the castle, the turrets (although very ornate) are really random. You ...

With just a short day's ride today we had a late start, and with a Maccas just down the street, John thought he would have a change of cuisine for brekky. However, the McCafe was the only part open, and he had croissants again. I did have a lovely cup of tea, however. It was another day of relatively flat riding, mostly beside the river. Today was mostly along a track we have come to call the tow path. It is asphalt, runs beside the river, and runs along the ...

... been great, and we've even had to put sunscreen on the backs of our hands as they catch a lot of sun. Tomorrow we have decided on a shorter today, to fit in with the best towns to stay in. Our body clocks are now well adjusted and we are eating and sleeping at the right times. However, as we are fairly tired of an evening, we're usually heading to bed, when everyone else is heading out for dinner. We're eating out with the young ...
