... 2177 to Locarno was on the next platform. We'd read that reservations were recommended (and necessary from the next stop) on this tourist train. We asked the conductor if we could sit in the panorama car with our First Class Eurails - and yes we could. Yahoo. We ended up with 6 seats across & facing to ourselves - great views all around.

With the high cliffs it ...

... and rougher until in disappears altogether alongside the river... and I find myself heading back to San Giagomo a third time, feeling quite frustrated with myself. And then, when all seemed hopeless, I spot the markings of the trail Splugenpass trail in between the houses... Yep, it's for real this time... I cross an arch stone bridge, pass a couple of other hikers that confirm, yes, this is the right way and then plunge into the forest once ...

... tranquil life here in the Alps, but rather on his own country far away. He's angry at the attacks there have been on Christians lately in Egypt, and directs some of his anger at America. "Why does president Obama support the Muslim Brotherhood? They are attacking Christians and trying to destroy us!" It's interesting that just a few days ago I had a conversation with a Turk who ran a doner shop in Firenze and he said the exact opposite: "Why ...
