Monterosso on Cinque Terre via Milan and Genova

... and rather like an English seaside town, except that the shops sell foccacias and pizza. Our hotel is half a block from the beach but most of the stoney beach areas require you to pay to get in. You can hire a deck chair too, if you pay. We walked to the "old" town but didn't explore very much more. John picked up a paninni for dinner and sat on the balcony and ate it. What a rough life we lead! We have a tour guide and tour of Cinque Terre tomorrow. Let's hope the sea isn't too ...

... beef (that tasted so good) and that Wendy had for tea was not so good after all. It seems that the food poisoning was what was really on the menu. A quick chat with a doctor by phone and John took a taxi into Como to a pharmacy to get the medication suggested. All this was about 11:30pm after he had been asleep for a while. I had reserved a 19 ft center console with a little 40hp Suzuki to tool around the lake for the day and visit some of the small towns that cling on steep hillsides to the waterfront. However, it's pouring out and the forecast for the rest of the day is not looking promising. So it's off by ferry to the main town of Como. First stop is to get a rain jacket and an umbrella, More stuff ...

Locando del Isola Comacino

The only island on Como has a very special restaurant that I was lucky enough to visit with new friends, Peter and Luana Harris from Perth, Australia. An hour ferry ride from Como with breathtaking scenery, you are dropped off to have a feast that has been served for close to 60 years. Locando del Isola Comacino. http://www.comacina.it/en/menu.php. Check out the web site to see more. Without a doubt, one of the most memorable meals of my life What started out as a ...
