On Saturday we walked from our apartment to the Marais district to explore -crossing the pont Notre Dame. On the way we passed the palace of justice - where Robespierre spearheaded the reign of terror. We have a new rule that is 'not to wait in a lineup for anything' so as everyone was lining up to see the 'complete tour' including Marie Antoinette's cell - we went in the side to see the great hall, the chapel and prison. ... mind boggling. The Tour de France raced by the Eiffel Tour while I was up there and I caught it by surprise.

Well worth seeing at least once. Max was surprised at how many ...

... amazing view over Paris and the rain had eased. Also went inside the Basilique. Once out it was time to find dinner and stopped at a nice Italian pizzaria for a nice meal, a rest from the rain and walking. Metro back to the station near our hotel where we waited with Holly for a while before walking her to the Gare d'Est to catch her 9.30pm train back to her host family. Again welcome bed and rest for weary feet but a great day. ...

Deja vu

... a large church on the right that I had never seen before. Of course it was the wrong way. We walked about eight blocks to the end before turning around. As it turned out, it was less than two blocks to the right. We picked up some tubs of salted caramel to take home, then had lunch (at 4.15pm) at Tennessee Cafe, where Mum and I watched the French Open final last year after leaving the market. We headed in the general direction of Luxembourg ...
