... out in 1569, they destroyed the fifth and main bastion as a parting shot! Once again, a Sultan came and rebuilt the place and called it El Jadida which means The New One in Arabic. So there is nothing Moorish about this fort; it is in fact a Portugese looking fort....just massive blocks of hewn stone!
