Paris always takes my breath away and I spent a couple of hours late afternoon having some aperitifs and people watching on the Rue de Buci. Still lots of smoking, notably among young women, and a penchant for Nutella crepes it seems. Buying a few provisions in the local supermarket naturally I bumped into a former literacy colleague from UniSA. It's a small world after ...

We saw an interesting sculpture of The Man Who Walked Through the Wall from the novel by Marcel Ayme (1902-1967) who lived in a house in the square with the sculpture. We saw the vineyards in the centre of Montmartre which were replanted in 1993 and what was Renoir's studio for some time ...

... we were taken by the statues, we also visited Rodin's museum where we were lucky enough to see a temporary exhibition which showed how he made his statues. The museum is in two parts - many of his famous works (like The Thinker, the Kiss, the Burghers of Calais) are located in the gardens, whereas smaller pieces of work are located in the mansion where Rodin spent his latter years. His collection includes 6600 sculptures , 8000 drawings, 7000 objets d'art. I tried ...
