... In the village of Bergheim, you will encounter the best preserved medieval walls and fortified tower. If you are seeking the most number of wine makers in a single town, then Dambach-la-Ville is your destination, but if you like picture-perfect towns, then make a stop at Ribeauvillè, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, or Eguisheim, often voted as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The magnificent Haut-Koenigsbourg chateau in the village Saint-Hippolyte ...

    Fingers Crossed

Up early for our drive to the VW Garage. We spoke to Herr Soufflé and agreed to return in a couple of hours for the diagnosis. A good run for Prego then a cafe stop for us before a return to the garage for the verdict. Herr Soufflé said they need to keep the van for 24 hours but all would be good for approx 300 Euros. A practical day of walking Prego (avec lake dip!), bathing Prego (awesome campsite dog bath), doing laundry and spring cleaning van, getting ready for the VIPs. We even bought some mugs as we only had two! Mum and dad arrived about 7 for an uber enthusiastic reunion and we headed to their hotel. We accompanied them to check in to a very modest abode in Mitteltal (aka: a f**k-off Penthouse suite in the Bareiss!!) We were blown away by the gifts we ...

... kept and laid out like Bob's allotments. Garden gnomes, windmills, flowers. or perhaps it more resembled a cemetery...

Basel was only about 2 hours away so we had a leisurely breakfast and morning and set off around 1pm planning to get to Basel around 3pm. We could probably have made it straight to Basel the night before but we know from experience the last few KM can take forever - which indeed they did again..... cue next blog page
