    ... In addition to the breakwater offshore, there are other things onshore, such as armored vehicles and artillery. While in Arromanches, we also had lunch at an outdoor cafe, which was very enjoyable.

    From Arromanches, we moved further along the coast the the American Cemetery. The cemetery site high on a cliff overlooking Omaha Beach. There are over 9,000 soldiers buried here, each with a white marker (type of marker dependent upon religion of each soldier). ...

    ... hour, then back down to earth and down to base camp.

    I took a few photos and found Darius a tin of caramels, as requested.

    Later in the evening Jonathan dashed over the bridge to the patisserie for a baguette to go with the remainder of our chicken and salad for dinner, and a slice if flan for afters. It has rained steadily all evening.

    ... we've had in Brittany and then proceeded to walk to the old town. The guide books had led us to believe that there were very few half timbered houses left following the major fire of 1720 but were we very pleasantly surprised at what we saw whilst wandering around.
