... time the person in front of you would step. Inch by inch we crept through the swarm, shaking on encouraging (pushing) each other. Once we reached the middle, the fears left, the cameras came out and the cameras started clicking. The view was MAGNIFICENT! We forgot all about the, what seemed to be, 2000 foot gorge beneath our feet and the howling winds. Finally we made it to the other end. Alice and Bob started back, clicking their ...

... they will still be there with all the others, when we return. After unpacking our panniers and getting ourselves sorted, we set off into the city to purchase the little things we needed for our hike, sheet, towel, bowl, cutlery etc. as well we bought a cheap suitcase to pack everything in, for our trip to Chamonix, and later, for Corsica. We didn't have a great start again, as we rode for about 15 mins through the city and ended up back where we started. Take 2, then there were roadworks and our path was barricaded off, so we had to do a detour up around the industrial section of town. We thought we had a relatively easy day of 64 kms, but two more detours later, and by the time we reached Mulhouse we were over 70 kms. Seven extra kms doesn't sound much, but to us it seemed quite a bit, and today we had the strongest head ...

Faucogney is in a National Parc Regional Des Ballons Des Vosges. Great area is south west corner of Vosges. Haute -Saone. Aire. Brilliant and purpose built for 4 vans by the sports fields a short walk from Centre Ville. Services perfect for 2€ the quietest Aire to spend a few days. Really like this place. This is a very interesting village. Oh my word. I didn't expect to see anything quite like this little hamlet. The clock has stopped it seems after the Second World War. ...

Today we had a big day, another 100 km. We didn't get off to a great start, with me having a puncture, flat tyre, whatever, our first for the trip, and before we had even left the city. It was a bit of glass, and may have been there for a few days, as the tyre wasn't completely flat. I'm glad John could handle it all, he had all the tools, pump etc, and some CO2 canisters if we needed them. I just looked useless, but offered lots of words of encouragement, and some ...
