This was very much as we expected. A decent sized room but basic. There was however air-conditioning which was a bonus as Melbourne was very hot when we were there (early Nov). The hotel was in a great location, handy for sights, restaurants, public transport etc. Also the staff were very helpful and friendly.

This budget hotel is right in the heart of the city, a three minute walk from Flinders Street Station; there are trams and a variety of eateries from pubs/cafes to specialty cupcake shops to a supermarket that stocks pre-packaged meals, right outside the door. Otherwise HF1 has all the basic amenities you would expect (no fridge), is neat and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Great if you're on a budget and have a show to see in the city, or if you're visiting Melbourne and plan to not spend much time in your room.

A night of rain.. again. The rain however was starting to ease off come the morning.

Today was the last day with the camper in Australia. We did all the chores ready to hand the camper back. We emptied the waste water, the toilet, refilled the water, swept out and cleaned. The camper was all ready to be returned, but we had one final stop …

Ceduna to Port Augusta for a couple of nights - last shopping and washing day. Sue and Peter call it the 'make and mend ‘ days. The landscape changed to wheat fields that stretched forever- and the vivid yellow canola fields the whole way home were absolutely ...

... yet another crazy time in the morning (you can see a theme developing here). I was not blown-away by the town. Given that it has such a big appeal and reputation amongst backpackers, I was excited to check it out. But unless you were planning to go diving or sailing, there wasn't much to do. A couple of highlights, however, were a visit to the Tropical Zoo where I got the ultimate tourist picture taken of me holding a Koala, and learning how to throw boomerangs and spears ...
