    ... the nerves, but as it turned out, pretty effective - we got there in the end. Lost or not: the route was spectacular.     We left the mountains on our trek South to Nice at about 10.30am...

    It was expected to be a long drive... but we weren't quite prepared for the whole "windy, steep, narrow, scary up the peak, down the slope, in the ice experience'.... the GPS was getting a sledging! We yelled & swore at her for taking us on the most ridiculous route.. I'm sure there was a simpler way? even if it took days ...

    More about the trip in a bit, but we ended up docking at a quiet halt outside a village called Choisey, about 3 km from Dole. It was quiet and peaceful with a nice meadow near by and we had heard that space was hard to find in Dole for our size barge, with tricky slope sided public quays.
