We finally said goodbye to "our" boat this morning and spent a few hours hanging out playing in Branges as we waited for our taxi to Lyon. Amazing what you can do with things around you! Don't you love the little acorn folk? Weather along the boat trip has been awesome - quite lucky from what the locals have said. Food, locations and people just great - couldn't ask for ...

... get to the top you are out of breath - but have a lovely view! Most of the old town in still intact with lovely old stone buildings from the late 1600’s to late 1700’s.

We parked the bikes and walked about a bit. Then we had lunch in a restaurant with a terrace away from the sun that overlooks the old lateral branch of the canal that used to feed the old grain mill, and farther up the tanners (Louis Pasteur ...

    An expensive mistake

... road works near the station, so who knows where we will find the bus on our return trip! The rail journey to Dole was straight forward thank goodness.

Dole was deserted with it being a Sunday. We had decided to have a Plat de Jour in Dole before going to Choissey and our hotel because we knew there was not much there but of course we had only intended to stay overnight and it was the closest place to stay to the airport. We found a restaurant and our steak ...
