      ... charming staff and an excellent restaurant. At €55 B&B it is also pretty good value for a touristy area in France.

      I wasn't feeling particularly hungry so I asked for something light, and chose the potage du jour and a mushroom omelette wit a half bottle of local Rhone wine.

      ... Eldon thought the zucchini had maple syrup in it. He loved it but isn't one to be crazy of maple syrup. The duck was delicious, some of the best we have ever had; it was cooked really nice.

      We then had a bowl of sweet red fruits and a little cream for dessert. Our friend ordered us an after dinner drink that was really good but loaded with alcohol. We got to be around 9:30. I slept like a baby.

      ... chicks, all being watched over by the farmer and his/her dog! Buyers armed with cartons or wooden crates haggled over the feathered friends, and when a sale was made the hapless bird was unceremoniously gripped by its leg and tossed into his new home...quelle un surprise! It was fascinating to watch this trade take place, probably unchanged over the span of centuries!

      Sitting in the emergency room at the hospital in Dole on Sunday, Father’s Day, the 15th, I told Stan “we really have to stop meeting like this!”
