Day 6 - Headed to Cairns

... to believe we were in the same country because the landscape and atmosphere were just completely different from Sydney. It truly looked like we had landed in Hawaii or some tropical paradise, which is a great way to sum up our time in Cairns. We were actually staying in Port Douglas, so we took a taxi from the airport to the car rental place in downtown Cairns, where we picked up the 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The jeep was fun and ...

It was a long journey back as our flight out of New Orleans wasn't till 5:30 pm, however as we had to check out of our room by midday and as we didn't want to get stuck in traffic we got a taxi out to the airport around 1pm. We had a leisurely morning getting up late. Ian ate his cold pizza and then we went to the Cafe Beignet on Bourbon Street. It's bigger than the one we went to on Royal Street the first morning and ...

On my next to the last day a special lunch had been booked at a posh restaurant called Dunes at Palm Beach, a gift from Cathy. After our usual Manly beachfront walk (taking advantage of the low tide to walk in the sand), we put on our better clothes for the occasion. Rosemary drove us on a now familiar route through Manly, Dee Why, Colloroy and Newport as we wound up an ...
