... railings and parked along the street and at the station. People riding to and from work, shops, visiting etc. Even in business suits or dresses. Even on the phone, with no hands, or carrying all of the shopping home. Lots of customised bikes too... Prams or carts on the front, bikes with two seats and one set of pedals... Fun to see - and there is no dawdling - it's GO or STOP. We had to be very alert at the road ...

... trade. We found a lovely seafood restaurant and ate the local fare while people watching. Saw many interesting sights and made lots of observations e.g. everyone uses a bike except young males, Germans are fascinated by handbag dogs, the only people in Dusseldorf who wear shorts in summer other than Eric are joggers, and lots of older couples dress similarly (that was scary!)
