... Maicher's Uncle Georg planned and laid the ornate street cobble stones. The stones came from the Rhein region. We stopped at the Schmidt Cafe so that Ron could have Schwarzwalderkirsch Kuchen und Kaffee. We looked at some more of the Alt Stadt. The Hotel Bären Wein und Bierstuben was first built in 1358 but its foundation was laid 1120. This is the ...

... We spent another hour or so just walking around, trying to find some stores where the kids had seen some items they liked, but we didn't purchase anything. Perhaps we're all souvenired-out. In any case, we were all hot and tired and just wanted to get some relief from the heat.

Its definitely cooled down, less than 20 degrees today and ...

Maybe it's Sonny Bono territory. When the trees do clear, or, more suspiciously, look as if they have been cleared by humans for play, the hills have no apparent regular shape. Not the rounded volcanoes of the Auvergne or the dark green of Scotland nor even the ...

... artists, Haguenau and Gruenwald. I am always impressed seeing works of art that are that old.

We managed to get a peek in the St Martin Church, the dominant gothic structure in the area. Tours were not allowed inside during church services so we had to enter as individuals.

Then came the fun part. We were given 25 Euros each for lunch at a location of our choice. We had about two hours free before needing to meet our bus to go to the next ...
