... make the time fly, we stopped off a services somewhere in south France and got our table out and had a very civilised lunch. The only problem with our Alan Rogers france book is that is 2012- we didn't think that 'modern facilities' could date so quickly but this site proved us wrong... 'Shack esq' facilities is more appropriate for the book but for €18 for the night we weren't complaining, Simon was ...

... detour and well worth the drive.
The bridge is beautiful and massive, 343 metres long and 2,460 metres high. We drove across, parked at the visitors' centre and walked up to the viewing area. It is quite magnificent.

After some much needed sunbathing we decided to have a game of tennis - Sue cheated of course! Sat in the shade now with cool beer ...

... and drove back home just in time. A couple of hours later we got ready to go to the other party at Letitia's somewhere in a nearby village in a beautiful big villa. A real shame the weather was bad and it was still drizzling as she had made a beautiful table for 20 on the huge balcony. Now we had to stay inside. There was a guy that played piano really well and she'd had rented a big pianoforte with wing. They had hoped I had brought my guitar but I ...

The Auvergne was one of my ‘wish list’ places to see. It is situated pretty much in the centre of France and is about as rural as you can get, reported to be the least populated region in Europe. I have a fascination of volcanoes and and although the land scape is made up of a mass of volcanoes, they are all extinct now and the last eruption was over 8000 years ago, although there is still a huge amount of under ground ...
