      Another cold but clear morning as we left the apartment, in two trips down the five flights of steps, then enjoyed a coffee at a cafe on the corner. We had seen the nearby taxi ranks each day we have been here, but alas, today when we needed one the local authorities had closed the road to put the Christmas lights up.
