... supplies and were not very impressed with what we saw - all high rise and traffic. We are told the Old Town is worth a visit and to be fair, we were on the outskirts in the rush hour.
We have booked an apartment for a few days in a place called Eze, which is a medieval hill town between Nice and Monaco. It is perched on the hills overlooking the Med and seems to be a slower spot compared to the crowds below.
... We took Dilyara's picture at the start line and then continued walking along the water toward the casino. We passed a number of expensive boats. One of the smaller boats was selling for around 30 million dollars.... We didn't make any purchases this time... maybe next time ;).
We made the walk over to the casino took some pictures and then walked North toward the train station.
We took the train around 5 PM back to Nice.
... England, my best friend Sarah came to visit me! We had a wonderful week together before she headed on her Contiki tour of Europe. The weather in France had picked up a lot and it was nearing high 30's. Very nice to actually get a bit of my tan back rather than feeling like the same colour as the clouds in the sky. I showed Sarah around most of the landmarks in Paris, trying to miss the ones she was going to see in her tour. Some of the funny moments ...
... and I have been taking the time to educate ourselves a bit more on other religions so that we can further appreciate the cultures we encounter during the world tour. I've been enthralled by the short overviews of Islam I've pored over thus far. Shame on me for not sooner taking the time to learn more about the fundamentals of the religion that terrifies so many. As the 3 of us stood on the corner outside the train station, listening to Beth go into detail about her film, ...
... into Nice was beautiful we had snowy mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. And little buildings and hotels are basically perched in every available bit of hillside. We again got our maps and info sheets so that we could plan our next day. We then basically checked into our hotel and we walked down to the old town of Nice for our dinner. There was the option of going to an English bar after the meal but we all went straight home and to bed ...
