    Today has been a big day. We were up early and off to Victoria Station to get the train to Dover. Now, every time I mentioned or read something about Dover, I was told that we could spend the entire day at Dover Castle alone. So when Dad was keen to go to Dover AND Canterbury in one day, I wasn't sure it was really possible. But we did it.     ... and drizzle. At Dover we encounter a roaring gale and just drive through this rather unprepossessing port town. It's the closest town to the European continent, just 21 miles (34 kms.), and the coast of France can be seen from the cliff tops on a clear day (certainly not today!).
