... and the gardens were also beautiful. Tonight we had the option of going to Tours with a dinner included. We walked around the town and visited the basilica. After the walking tour we had dinner in the Leonardo da Vinci restaurant where we also had a guy playing the guitar and singing all night with us joining in. It was great having Summer there as she translated for most of the night. It ...

Saturday: we had planned to hire bikes again to visit Chateau Chambord, however decided probably best to have a down day as tomorrow we start the long haul home. Arrive for Le Shuttle, at Channel Tunnel, as you might expect, at 5:30am, it is pretty quiet, check in all very slick this time, machine reads our number plate automatically as we drive in, one click on the screen to confirm our details, and, we are in. Unlike the previous occasion we used it.
Emerge from tunnel, 8:00am French time. A soggy drive south, rain, ...

... Château de Cheverny. There were many more cars parking here as it was now early afternoon. Once again this chateau is located right next to the village of Cheverny and it is surrounded by parklands and expanses of grass, trees and a forest as well (still used for hunting). This was a different experience as all of the rooms open to the public are fully furnished and there is a real sense of a family home. It is interesting to note ...
