    ... a little lost coming into town, and rode an extra 3 or 4 kms. Surely we'll get it right sooner or later. At least it's not as bad as being lost in a car, and trying to manoeuvre in traffic. Blois is quite a big city, probably similar size to Ballarat, and has the mandatory chateau, perched high above the town. They must have had plenty of time in the 10th century, as the rock walls are about 50 mts high. Would have taken years. Wouldn't have suited me, I want it ...

    A few quick messages late yesterday and it turned out that Alex and Val were nearby with their friends Jussara and John. It was easier to decide on dinner than it was to select a restaurant. The hotel one was great but fully booked but found space for the six of us.

    At this point the Tour Director decided that extreme fatigue had descended upon the tour group and that we should head home for an afternoon siesta - although at 4:15pm, it was a little late for an afternoon siesta.

    Whilst some rested I scaled the hill at our estate to visit the chapel and then a short walk to see our local river...then home for dinner

    ... launched grappling hooks – massive iron “claws” that were launched from the boats up to the cliffs above, in order for the soldiers to climb the rope ladders to the top.
