    Having said that it is actually a strikingly beautiful building dominated by a wonderfully grand double helix stair case inspired by Leonardo da Vinci.

    We enjoyed the cycle in the grounds and back to St Dye some 8km away.

    We had dinner at a nice bistro where we met some travelers from Scotland. It was a day after the Scottish vote on independence from GB - they were only mildly disappointed at the outcome. We shared some good cross-table conversation.

    ... antlers over 6000 years old from an ancestor of the elk which was found in the Siberian ice fields 200 years ago. The antlers are hung at the actual height of the animal! The chateau's immaculately manicured gardens (including seemingly endless pathways of beautifully raked gravel) were a sight to behold, and we both came away feeling quite wowed.
