Having said that it is actually a strikingly beautiful building dominated by a wonderfully grand double helix stair case inspired by Leonardo da Vinci.
We enjoyed the cycle in the grounds and back to St Dye some 8km away.

It’s green here … very green! The hills and valleys with scatterings of cows are idyllic, and some of the villages are almost fairytale-like. I love the weathered blue shutters and old stone houses with their well maintained flower gardens and prim cedar hedges. It is stereotypical France, and as lovely as can be!
