          Once during the cruise we get to eat in a small specialty restaurant on board. It has Italian style food and is called Portabello's. It only seat 25 and was a unique experience. Have a look at the menu and some pictures of the plated food.

          ... tourist area and sought out a local German Gasthaus to have lunch. Brauerai Spezial was definitely for the locals. We had a great discussion (limited) in German with an elderly local couple sitting next to us. I also tried the local specialty "Rauchbier" or smoked beer. A different smell and flavor - definitely smokey. Overall our lunch was a unique experience and a lots of fun with excellent food.

          ... and later watching the Wallabies beat the Pumas in the Rugby World Cup semi-final. After another excellent dinner we docked for a few hours in Schweinfurt and some people had a quick walk around town, while others stayed on board to be entertained by local medieval musicians. This cruise really does tick all of the boxes - food, drink, scenery, tour options, entertainment, service on board, and quality and knowledge of the guides......

          ... long for the keg of beer to be emptied! The 2 optional events were a Medieval Walking Tour of Bamberg and Beer Tour. You guessed it; the girls went for a walk and the boys went for the Beer. Hmmm didn't that also happen in Amsterdam one day - seems to be a trend occurring here. How could you not go to a brewery in the Brewery Capital of the World which has 9 active breweries in it.
