... you name it. Tunisia was really wonderful although, while it is a secular Muslim country, is still outwardly very male dominated.
From Tunisia we flew on to Casablanca, Morocco where we met up with our new group. Food and hotels did not live up to Tunisia but we still were comfortable here. Apparently there is not much to see in Casablanca except for the Royal Palace (which is beautiful), and the Hassan II mosque ...
... Capitol and Forum and the sprawling layout of this huge city. It is considered the best preserved Roman city in all of North Africa. We spend several hours wandering through the site, then have lunch and begin the drive back to Tunis.
Along the way back we stop briefly at the War Cemetery for English lads who died in the Second World War. Heartbreaking to see their ages, and the ...
We say goodbye to one tour member this morning. At 10am several of us go with the guide into the medina again. Two of us break away to visit a local hammam. This is an experience more like the one in Morocco, with hard skin scraping and back cracking.
I shop for birthday gifts for one of our tour members, then return to the hotel to get awards and tips organized. The party begins at six ...

... of it all was limited, but there was a clear support for "la juste cause palestinienne". I took pictures which draw attention upon myself by the local camouflaged student police. Are you a journalist? What are you doing here? Where do you live? And not sure why those students were so insistant, even if presented as members of the Tunisian League of Human Rights, I stupidly argued with them about freedom and liberty of expression until ...
Bizerte, Tunisia fitfilmsWe've been in Tabarka for the past couple of days and tomorrow we head South to Le Kef. From there we'll be exploring the kasbah and local surroundings in Le Kef and taking a day to travel and see the ruins in Dougga. It's going to be a bit tricky, the louages don't travel to these places but near them and we sure don't want to be hauling heavy rucks around the ruins. After Dougga we'd like to check out Maktar, more ruins, before heading to Kerouain.
Tabarka has been good. I'm burned again ...
