... lagos.
Matanzas, Matanzas, Cuba chavo14... a winner with pancakes and omelets) and rooms smelled of sulphur with noisy dripping aircon (sent Lolly mental). On the plus side the beach was incredible, blue sea and white sands, and free kayaks to use. Gave in to hotel organised fun one night and played bingo!
Varadero, Cuba chicas-latinas... Was he an *******? I attempted to ask but did not get the desired answer !!! This town was even more 50's There were diners and art-deco type cinemas and the only modern car was ours. **** there were some nice ones. We shot as we drove as we didn't have time to stop and walk.

Eventually we arrived in town. We drove around getting a feel first of all, found our casa and first thoughts were that it was to far out of ...

Our first full day in Cuba. We begin with a trip to the Front Desk to see if they have a new room for us. The elevator is still broken and no repair in site. We are told "Come back again tomorrow"! What can we do, this is Cuba and Cuban time. We find the restuarant and experience our first Cuban meal.
Varadero, Cuba swampbottomgurli loved this resort....at times the shower was barely warm, the food was bland and it was a bit cold and windy....but what a beautiful resort, huge! and the country and cities are beautiful...the beach was quiet and the pools were not packed...it was a great place to relax and take in the cities....very touristy and safe....you could safely backpack the country if you are from canada....they are a very friendly and helpful country.
Varadero, Cuba sheri.laakso... food was probably the worst I have ever eaten, the buffet at our hotel was re-cycled everday, some of the same dishes were there for one whole week, they didn't even try to hide it by putting the food on smaller platter's, they would just get emptier everyday, Coffee was very bad and looked like mud. January was too cold, so we ended up swimming in the pool most of the time instead of the beach I wouldn't go back to Cuba unless I got a great deal
Varadero, Cuba batzm... are really amazing and welcoming people. There kindness too me as a complete stranger is really amazing, and at the same time coming from canada, where its just differnt, its strange at the same time, coz i always think to myself why are they SOOO nice to me, they barely know me and they open there homes to me, and invite me to family functions within hours, i wasnt a gringo i was pretty much family, Its a great feeling to be welcomed like that.
Matanzas, Chile senorbrian... in 1961). It was supposed to take me to a part of Havana called Casablanca, but it broke down just few km before. I had to take a local bus (yupiiii!!!) and a ferry to get to Havana Vieja. It somehow felt perfect, because it was dirt cheap (in 0.10 moneda nacional) and I was using new means of transport! I even manage to have a conversation in Castellano with a deaf Cuban man!
