We woke aboard the Italian ferry Roma sailing between Italy and Spain. The sun was rising behind a low cloud. We sailed north for a while, leaving Porto Torres at the top of Sardinia. A woman walked a dog on the deck. Men drank beer at sunrise. Philippine sailors scrubbed the decks with modern power hoses. Italian stewards served cappuccinos. Wind blew water uphill. A man ran with two dogs. A ...
... and through a very shallow channel between the islands. We didn't expect to see so many boats at anchor including quite a few super yachts/ motor boats.
We enjoyed the swordfish we'd bought a couple of days earlier at the fish market and I must say it was cooked to perfection.
Friday 14 August
Wanting to sleep-in we were awoken by a constant stream of boats / tenders ...
... into old town after having a wonderful lunch. We're in Italy – brilliant. It's proving a little difficult to breakaway from saying the odd Spanish word that we know but were getting there.
Alghero is a wonderful town – very interesting and has a wonderful atmosphere. Also in the evening there was a spectacular thunderstorm.

After completing a couple of chores we headed for Sassari – the bus ride was interesting taking ...
On the 7th of August we left at 8:15 am from Porto Torres.
On board the ferry we enjoyed the sea and its colours and the sight of a few sailboats, which look great in my pictures. The journey took 1 hour and 15 minutes and the ferry docked at Cala Reale. Here is where we met the first donkeys (they're very cute and used to people) and enjoyed a breathtaking ...
My flight from Dublin arrived in Alghero at 2 pm.
I went straight to the beach! I really missed the sun and the Sardinian sea!!!
I love my land and I love Alghero. Alghero is always Alghero, 'cause it has the beaches, and what beaches! And also, it has some movida at night, and nice shops, restaurant and bars...
Alghero has a soul that catches you, wherever you come ...
