42kms.... AM - Last night we pulled out the slightly old, well used GPS unit that Tomas gave us in Vienna & decided to give it a try today. He said each days route had been entered into each of two GPS units he gave us. Well fired up one unit this morning, it worked, found today's route, it worked, put it on the bike & set off, it worked!!! Just had to follow the arrow on the compass background and voila, no problems in any little village or crossroad, ...

A Footnote from the castle website: Helfštýn Castle is a protected cultural monument administered by the Comenius Museum in ...

The train reeks of dry sweat, body odour, feet and general filth. ...

... they look at each other and it's not only for the picture, trust me. They loaded a couple more bags of food into our car and we were on our way.

Of course, as soon as we got on the road, the rainstorm started. I usually LOVE rain, but it quickly turned to hail and by Raciborz we had to stop to let it pass. When it calmed down we continued through a little corner of the Czech Republic, which shortens the trip ...

... temperatures went bad. In Poland they say that disasters come in pairs ("misery likes company" of sorts). We didn’t have to wait long for the second one.

I was going to serve my mom’s barley soup but the horrible odor that hit me as soon as I opened the jar made it clear that the soup has fermented. Marek, ever the scout, ate it anyway while I concentrated on making the main course as quickly as possible. The dumplings with kielbasa and ...
