A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!

Lui è un cuoco statunitense sregolato, simpaticissimo e assolutamente fuori dalle righe ho letto anche il suo "Kitchen confidential" e mi ha divertito molto.

Clothing store at Coccinato

Saturday 20/6/09 Cocconato

Just outside Cocconato, next to our agriturismo, is a large factory outlet/ clothing store for "conbipel". I presume they must make clothing on the premises as it is very large. Alison went in to ...

Turin Egyptian Museum

... This included there household furniture such as beds, food such as bread and meat, tools of trade including measures. Makeup, clothing and the wig of Merit. There were two large rooms of statuary including Seti 1 carved at about 5metre high. Many many drawings on stone and papyris including the acrobat I managed to photograph.

A wonderful day and highlight of the trip.

Alba and Barolo

... points there were grills installed with lit areas under the floor showing an ancient font and the floor of a previous church on the site. I was impressed.

From the city of Alba we drove a little further south to Barolo. This is a wine village and obviously particularly prosperous. Lots of building work was apparent with opulent facilities for production and display. The vines looked intensively managed ...

A Day In Asti

... they left for McDonald's. I met with Ricca at about 7pm but Mom and Janet were gone. Ricca and I went around to look for them. Later they returned to the plaza. After that we had a long meal in Shanghai Restaurant with Ricca's papa and his gf. They don't speak Cantonese. Food came really slowly and they weren't authentic.

The joys of Italia

... up the mountain...at times in the 18 minute ride I wondered if we were really gonna make it, but we did. When we got to the top the view would have been great, but unfortunately its been rainind for the last several days and the clouds were covering the city and the mountains that surround Turin. We walked around and checked out the place anyway. The church, as it seems so many European ...

Glitz and Glamour

... We were lucky enough to get the opportunity to see a fashion parade in one of the most prestigious shopping precincts in Milan. We felt a little uneasy, wearing the same 'slightly worn' outfits that we'd been sporting for the past six weeks, but enjoyed the show despite this! We're sure that there is much more to this city that we didn't get to see. We did like what we saw, but if we were to return in the future, we'd certainly try to pack a few more classy outfits!

... and dutifully took two rights. After not being able to find the street for 5 minutes, we asked a passerby where it was. They told us to get onto the subway, and take it 40 minutes out of town. We said thanks, walked a block, and asked another person. They gave the same reply. This time we followed up by asking where the closest laundromat was located. "Take a left, and then after 2 streets, another left". We thanked her, and dutifully followed her instructions. After another ...
