... from where my people came. I continued to act brave. Home Sick, who me? no, never, just don't tell anyone else in our semester abroad who drank in the culture like blood thirsty vampires, that I would have tradd my front row seas to the Ameica's cup for a really fast flying dolphin ride back to the united States; albeit a very short one. I just needed a few minutes to slam back some cold beer, I mean ice cold beer, and I had a hankering for plain ole miller ...
Lindos, Dodecanese, Greece basugar2000... houses, The Grand Masters Palace and a Museum and Art Gallery.... and lots and lots of stalls/shops. I was lucky that a large ship had brought in some tourists for the day so, by arrangement, a select number of shops and restaurants were open. Otherwise, it would have been all shut.
The next day I went to Lindos by bus (about an hour's trip) and everything there WAS closed.... except one coffee shop, one bar and one cafe. It was a delightful little ...
... of the point, the old site of the Colossus of Rhodes that guarded the entrance to the harbour. The huge fort with massive towers encircled Old Town and dominated the vista as we looked out from the 15th storey of the ship. The fort is made of a coarse block stone that is a mix between limestone and sandstone which provides that warm golden hue when the sun hits it, a rare occasion today. As the rain continued during the morning we ate a leisurely breakfast sitting on ...
Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece tapestryAnother beautiful day. Sunny 78 degrees on the island of Rhodes. We travel to Lindos half way down the island. To see the Acropolis were Paul spoke to the Greeks. A long climb to the top with a view to forever. Just outstanding. Back to the boat early to catch some sun by the pool.
I am going to upload a couple of pics from yesterday on Myconos to give you an idea of the beauty here.

There's Medieval castles in Greece? Who knew! We stopped in Rhodes enroute from Fethiye to Santorini, and got to enjoy the day in Rhodes town before catching the overnight ferry out. Coming into the port, there's a great view of their old castle, and we spent a lot of the day inside the "old town", exploring the Knight's Quarter, along with all the tourist shops.
After ...
After a quick breakfast, we headed off to the port to catch our 9am ferry to Rhodes, but it looked like everyone else in Fethiye had the same idea. The boat was full of those annoying package holiday makers on a day trip to Rhodes.
After a rough ride, we bought our tickets to Athens (Rhodes to Athens €53 each, one way) and had the whole day to spend in Rhodes before our next ferry departed.
Rhodes was famous worldwide in the ancient world for the Colossus of Rhodes ...

... I been to, you get the feeling you could be very comfortable living in this one - there's none of the stark coldness or foreboding you get in older forts. I'm sure Uncle Benito had a grand time in Rhodes. Back outside and you hit the Avenue of the Knights, a cobbled and gently sloping roadway leading ...
Rhodes, Greece technotrekker... into me one after the other, filming every moment and apologising to the cobbled path.
But it was easy to escape these tedious scenes. All one had to do was dart into an alley and one was back in the world of Greeks sitting on doorsteps idly flicking worry beads. To say 'Kalimera' to them was to receive a bright smile in recognition and a reply. Previously the majority of Greeks in lowland Corfu and Athens had been disinterested or even downright mocking of our attempts to ...
