... in Italy. I only got a tiny taste for the culture. I’ve seen almost none of the interesting landscape or met any curious people. And there’s so many great foods I didn’t get to try! So tonight we’re going out for a last supper. I am going to eat pasta in Italy! I don’t care how stereotypical that is.

All I can say is I hope Greece is a might bit warmer so we can get back on track with this travel. And I ...

I am aware of religion. I was taught to breathe it in, it was slammed into my brain at every avenue available to school and churches alike. I think that faulting people for beleiving blindly, all encompasing is not fair in my mind. Faith is Faith. I beleive some people require 'something' that ...

First taste of italian traffic

Arrived early in the morning and it took us forever to get off the boat. No kind of organisation at all and then we had to queue for an age to go thru customs in the van, but then we were on our way. I was driving and got my first taste of Italian traffic... oh my god. It was crazy and we werent really sure where we were going and neither was Harriet our GPS. I love how everyone just pulls out wherever they ...

... seen from the bottom. We walked up to the 3rd terrace..we saw the treasury, ampithetre and ruins of the temple of apollo. Not the best restored ruins we have seen but they were interesting for the history of Mt Parnassus and Apollo. It was hot despite the breeze and we were glad to get back on the bus..it was after 12pm by this time and we were hungry. We drove down the mountain to the coastal town of Itea for lunch on the water at the restaurant ...

!!!!!

Off to the beach today, that is pretty much all there is to do in Ancona. Beautiful day though. 30min bus ride to get to the beach. The water was amazing, bright blue with white pebbles.

Got a little burnt! Everyone at the beach was so tanned!!!! even the babies!!!

To the sea...

... vista of lumpy and spiky territory. Getting towards level ground again, we came down towards the dual carriageway at Bagni di Romagna and were relieved to spot a petrol station. It was only self-service and, though we were sure it took notes, we weren't quite sure how to operate it. Therefore, Paul ventured into the attached cafe and - in his words - "bowed" at the girl inside, informed her (in Italian!) that he didn't speak Italian, and ...

Day 4_Rome - Ancona - Split

So three independent tourists came together: a 54 yr old male from New Zealand, a 20 yr old female from Australia and a 30 yr-old male from Singapore. All from down there geographically on the map. It was a chore getting to and from the ticketing office so I am going to skip that but we got to know one another better and it was such a relief to get onto the ferry. I must admit that I was pretty proud of my homework on the internet to get a great deal at 26 Euro ...

Ancona. I'm sure there is stuff to do there. The centre of town was not too bad. We just stopped there for the night so we could catch the ferry to Greece the next day. But we seemed to find the hostel in the dodgiest part of town. The front door was open to anybody and the receptionist was not always there to ...

Ancona - more than just another ferry port

... you can get in Italy, it is very delicious! We would visit these places a lot when we returned to Rome for Christmas. For now it was off to Croatia by overnight ferry. Not the luxurious line that took us from Stockholm to Finland, but due to the lack of riders we each got a room to ourselves as rooms are separated by male and female. Goodbye EU! See you in a month! August 18th - The Island Blue, Ionian Sea

Currently sat below decks to avoid the midday sun. This computer still functions but is in a state of Purdah, refusing to communicate with any of its digital counterparts.

After changing trains at Bologna we connected onto the line that took us down to Forli in a hot and rattling carriage. We immediately noticed the temperature to be higher up north when compared to Rome. My little thermometer, although it had been in the sun, was ...
