... top of the peninsula to a place called Baja Sardinia. Beautiful, just like every other place - but truly the provence of the rich and possibly famous. Roped off sections of beach, sun lounges for hire, the usual signs of exclusiveness!! ... surprising. It doesn't feel like Italy, and it doesn't look like Italy. We are staying in the top North East section of the Island, and spent today exploring the local area. There are marinas a'plenty here - very small, very boutique and interesting. Some have lots of really expensive yachts and others just have smaller rich men's runabouts. Most of the marinas have cafes, bars and restaurants. Not too many ...

... but we are staying out of town about 30 minutes at a place called Porto Rotondo - evidently a little ritzy. Find the hotel with no problems and check in to find a full blown BIG FAT Italian wedding going on. It is the perfect cliche. Love it!! The hotel is delightful, driving in I felt like I could be convinced that I was in a spaghetti western and that Clintio Eastwoodio would ride out of the desert at any moment. ... and olives. I was getting the olives from the .ittle man at the deli counter and Jeff was getting a cheese from the fridge area. He just looked at Jeff and wa e his hand down with a NOH! and suggested he get his cheese, which we did.
Weather has beeb bellissimo, buena excellent.

Arrived in Santa Teresa di Gallura. Greated in half Italian and french by the 70 yearold lady who's father had started the hotel and restaurant in the town.
Went for a walk to the high points, the marina and the chiesa.
Got our bathers and walked to the beach. Refreshing, the water is so clear and azure blue.
