Another day to spend largely relaxing and playing, even if there was by necessity a bit of packing involved. This time the weather cooperated, and we had the best weather of the week.

... now after midday so very sleepy but a bar open as always......we sat for another drink....us and an ever increasing group of men......only men......crestfallen when I started asking for directions to the bakery and relieved as we left....turning the bar into a poker den, presumably the afternoon taken care of!!

This is more like it! On the first fine day for what seems like ages, we left early for Portonovo, a series of beaches in a national park not far from where we're staying. We arrived at about 10am, and immediately booked our loungers and umbrellas - as is the Italian way. With our space secure, we could then go for dips in the sea, wander of to the cafe for sandwiches, drinks, or ice creams, or read and lounge as ...

Bugger!! The weather in our host's words is like England today! it started off grey, we were determined to swim and laze but it got greyer and greyer........lunch over and the promise of sun became a distant past.....we went down to play a game of boule and the heavens literally opened....bloody hell!......We played cards for chocolate instead ...
