The bus meandered on up the hill, (the roads are not designed for buses let alone two lane traffic), the houses are perched beside the road with a balcony that barely allows a car through & to quote our guide "driving is exciting but parking is better", they park anywhere, then the bus has to squeeze through, if you see a car parked with hazard lights going it means "I won't be long", this might be correct outside a coffee ...

    Agrigento–Taormina Riviera

    Energy is very expensive, they are trying to become self sufficient through solar & wind turbines but they predominantly buy their electricity from Germany & Switzerland, if you build a house & try to be self sufficient you get a tax rebate.

    About 5 years ago there was an issue with garbage piling up in Naples so to solve this the Italians paid ...

    ... went down and we were left lying in the shade we made our way up the massive hill to the car to head home to the hotel. The drive back was spectacular, looking back over the cliff-side town of Sirolo and the Adriatic Sea. Unfortunately there was nowhere to stop and take a photo, as they would have been great.
