... some cough drops at a grocery store as all the drug stores were closed. Hopefully she won't have to use them. After dinner we went up on to the sun deck to take in the show. It seemed to be sponsored by the Ars Electronica Centre. There were huge crowds of people and all the buildings were lit up and the ARC building was blinking and changing colour. There was a flotilla of gaily decorated boats ...

... a short walk to the main square which features the Holy Trinity statue built to remember the people who died in the plague epidemics. Laurie had done some research about things to do and we elected to take the mountain tram up the nearby hill of Postlingberg. This hill is 539 metres high and has a great view over the city. This cathedral burnt down almost completely in the 1652 town fire and was rebuilt in the baroque style after the fire. It is beautifully decorated with frescoes inside and on the ceilings, all of which depict wonderful Biblical scenes. We enjoyed a 30 minute organ concert there, which filled every seat ...

... It was really run to bike ahead of our ship, then stop to wave to our parents as they passed and take photos. The ride really gave us a great perspective of the small towns along the river, and the beautiful scenery which surrounds them. It was a great experience, and especially fun to ride into the city of Passau, crossing the river, and then along the large dam/hydroelectric plant that spans the river along the western side of the city. ...
