Yes I'm alive-here are some updates!

... and my Great Grandparents grew up. It was the best trip ever I had such an amazing time! Words cannot describe how I felt there, seeing my heritage and reconnecting with family.

Took a side trip to Prague. Amazing city, one of my favorites now! Loved it.

Now I'm in Munich til Monday. It's great here...beautiful sights and delicious beer! I'm in heaven haha

OK sooo that's a little update for now! Hope everyone is happy and healthy!

More soon...

Passau city tour

... We did a walking tour through winding narrow cobblestone streets and alleys looking at old buildings and shops. We went into the cathedral and learned much about the stonework, frescoes and the organ. Then outside again for more walking around learning about the architecture of the buildings.

Then it was back to the cathedral for an organ concert. The organ has 275 stops and almost 18,000 pipes placed in five areas, including the ceiling. Very ...

St Stephan's and the largest cathedral pipe organ

... it back to the ship feeling very proud of ourselves and had a brandy and dry on arrival.  A nice hot shower and felt as good as new.  We have got a lovely lot of friends and at dinner made up a table of 8 Kevin and Lois, Betsy and Noel, Bill and Anna and Mac and I.  Another great day over and looking forward to tomorrow when we will be arriving in Regensburg where I will be doing shopping.  Think we will have to buy another suitcase to bring everything home."

Tomorrow Austria... tonight fortress YHA

... this morning and an alfresco breakfast as its easter Monday and no shops are open. But the weather is ideal for cycling as its cool and clear; the first ten miles seem free. This is mostly Dyke cycling so not many challenges although navigation is again a bit tricky as the marker signs change and the route takes what appears to be illogical diversions. Throughout Germany cycling is massive both as a hobby and as transport. So along the route many pubs and guest houses advertise and ...

Linz/Salzburg/Passau

... had to stick to the theme and they had to have a rather small M over their entrance. The other yummy discovery has been the chocolates "Mozart Balls", though I still prefer Cadburys Dairy Milk. And so to Germany - Bavaria, shame I don't like Beer cause there sure is a lot!!!! More entertainment tonight, opera singers performing Mozart and songs from Sound of music.

Day17 Regensbourg to Passau

Best bit: having a long chat Worst bit: no breakfast Distance: 140km I feel a little less of oddity today, having met someone doing an even sillier (or more corageous) trip. Cycling along about lunchtime I came accros a French chap called Olivier on one of those "sit down" bikes. He works for a French supermarket chain (who are sponsoring him) and was happily making his way to China via Russia. I couldnt quite get my head ...

Arrive in Passua, Germany

... and people. We had dinner at the local brewery and had my first beer with my Dad. The tour was a self guided tour but they pre-book all the hotel rooms and provided a map, and every morning they would pick up our luggage and take it to the next hotel. The ride was great because they had a bike path that followed the river the majority of the time and it was relatively ...

A Weekend in Snowy Cesky Krumlov

... about 2 1/2 - 3 hours bus ride and the ticket costs about $8 each way. It's a great place to experience something out of the ordinary, and to feel like you are walking through a dream. The summer is the busiest time, so if you have the choice, going during the off-season. It's then, without all the other tourists, you can really get a feel for who the Czech people are. Their loud bar keeps and even louder guests: the little old women walking slowly up the ...
