... Jews, the Inquisitioin, etc. Hee, hee. Still trying to be funny here. But enough.
It is a beautiful spot here. The air is cool and smells of the woods. We've both commented how early it feels here in the mornings. By that I mean that at 8am it feels dark and early--like 6am back home. Not much moves until 9am (which feels like 7)! Enjoy the photos from Covadonga. Next stop, Ribadeo on the coast.
... saying. We were at La Playa Franca and it was BEAUTIFUL!! I call it “where the mountains meet the sea”. I have never seen anything like that before, so it was very amazing to me. The mountains were literally going into the sea. We spent an hour taking pictures and exploring and just soaking in all of the beauty.
The rest is just said with pictures.....
We are staying in a little village called Avin. We visited Cangas de Onis which is a pretty little town with an ancient bridge. We went to the seaside at Llanes and went on a cliff top walk.
Next day we went to Desfiladero de Cares. The pathway was made at the beginning of the 20th centuary by the workmen who blasted out a course for a canal to supply water for hydro-electicity for the area. The walk is from Poncedos to Cain and winds it way ...
... We rolled into San Sebastian around 10 to find the office closed!! Fortunately, they had only stepped away for a break and after setting up we sat by the camper and enjoyed some rose and regular port.
Note: I feel like my writing has become more elementary as the semester has gone. The only thing I guess I can say is Deal with it!...(I say this to call out Matt Furnas, a good friend of mine, but one who likes to call me out for things like that. He forgets I don't speak English as much anymore, nor do I write in the language as frequently). ....... After only having a brief turnaround from my Sevilla trip, I came home, ate dinner, unpacked, repacked, and wrestled to sleep since ...
Ribadesella, Asturias, Spain jakester21... in this area and they all have the same tale. It always rains when they come here. The one couple we met who had had two fine weeks in Galicia said that no one believed them. The problem is a geographical one. West winds cross the Atlantic, hit the mountains and dump their rain. North winds cross the Bay of Biscay, hit the mountains and drop their rain. East winds have crossed the plains of France with no ...
Ribadesella, Asturias, Spain and Canary Islands oldagetravellerWe spent the day cleaning the house, doing laundry, finding out what the Spanish siesta is really all about and packing our bags for the bike trip. I finally had something other than bread, cheese and salami for lunch. Leo's parents went off to do their own thing so we went ...
Benia de onis, asturias, Spain jmanc2As you read this, keep in mind that it was all written on my crackberry... Please forgive any mistakes you come across... The drive down here was kinda grueling! We were packed into a huge, by European standards, car stuffed to the gills (I've always wondered about this expression since I have never had gills, nore do I think I will. Do fish really eat that much?). Of course, by American standards, its about the size of bread box, a four ...
Benia de Onis, Spain jmanc2... 200 pesetas for each tapa, 400 pesetas for the jamón (uncooked ham) rolls. You take as many as you want," said the barman. I thought it safer to put three on a plate and pay for them immediately. You can end up spending a lot of money on bar snacks. Each tapa in the bars were bite size baguette slices with toppings such as boquerones (very small sardines), calamares (squid) and tortilla de patatas (Spanish omelette). In another ...
